Welcome back to another term of learning.
In Room 3 this term, and for the remainder of this year, there will be a focus on science.
What is science?
Science is a way of investigating, understanding and explaining the world around us and the wider universe. It involves making observations, exploring, carrying out investigations, communicating and questioning with others in order to develop scientific literacy.
The purpose of studying science in our classroom is for students to develop accurate views of what science is, looking at things 'through a scientific lens' to see what the science is behind them. So I look forward to introducing lots of activities that promote scientific reasoning and thinking.
If your child is interested in entering an exhibit in the science fair, feel free to contact me if you have any queries regarding this. Entries will need to be into school by 11th September.
We will start working on speeches next week. The topic for the inter school competition is "The power of relationships" Talk to your child about some of the options they can write a speech about that focuses on the importance of relationships in their lives.
Remember that book character parade is this Friday on the 14th.
